I was telling my friends last week that it didn't feel like Christmas in Cambridge. I think back home the kids are excited, Christmas Chapel rehearsals start, there are winter concerts, and the mall is decked in holiday decorations in early November. Here in Cambridge, even though it is getting colder, I just wasn't feeling the holiday spirit yet.
So tonight I went to the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Charles Hotel in Harvard Square. They even have an outdoor ice skating rink next to the hotel!!

Before the tree was lit, Kath and I pretended to turn on the switch. When it came time to light the tree, they had Santa push the switch to "on." I don't know if you can tell, but we are totally bundled up. Even though they had hot cider and hot chocolate, I still felt cold!

There was a raffle for Kevin Youkilis' charity so we bought a few tickets. Kath ended up winning a gift certificate for dinner at the restaurant in the Charles so she treated us to dinner!! I had the pot roast...yum! It was a wonderful way to start off the holiday season!
